Hundreds of cartoon facts and why you should care chapter 11
69Chapter 11: Wrapping up
Okay, naturally, even WITH this chapter, there are a WHOLE lot of facts about cartoon animals that weren't explored in this first section, and if you want to try exploring some for yourself, I'm sure you could find plenty that I haven't put in. However, as a proper send-off to section 1, I'm going to be listing all sorts of variable information about animals not covered in this section, as well as various facts about a few cartoon animals that HAVE been listed in this last chapter. Let's get started off with a list of cartoon animals I haven't covered in this chapter:
1. Cartoon Crabs (Such as Mr. Crabs from Spongebob)
2. Cartoon Kangaroos (Such as Little Hopper from Looney Tunes)
3. Dinosaurs (Such as Littlefoot from THe Land Before Time)
4. Floyd the rattlesnake (From the Tex Tinstar segment of the Schnookums and Meat Funny Cartoon Show)
5. Bugs Bunny
6. Roger Rabbit
7. Gloria (The Hippo from Madagascar)
8. Oswald Rabbit
9. Buster and Babs Bunny
10. Freddy the Frog
11. Flip the Frog
12. Rocko the wallaby (From Rocko's modern Life)
13. The Crocodile from Peter Pan
14. The Aardvark (From The Ant and the Aardvark)
15. Arthur (Who is also an Aardvark)
16. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
17. The Jeep (From Popeye)
18. RJ the Raccoon
19. Verne the Turtle
20. Morocco Mole (From Secret Squirrel)
21. Knuckles (Daisy Duck's pet iguana from Disney's Quack Pack)
22. Dingbat (From Dingbat and the creeps)
23. Pepe le Pew
24. Twinkles the wonder horse (From Dave the Barbarian)
25. Peter Potomas
Not much to say about this chapter OR this selection of cartoon characters, but these are still significant, and about the best I could come up with after covering all the basis as far as cartoon animals. After all, once you've covered Cats, Dogs, Birds, Ducks, Insects, Monkeys, Fish, Hoofed Animals, Mice, and Bears, it's hard to find more animals. The next section will be based more on archetypes and roles, but this section is based on species. Anyway, here are the 20 facts for this chapter. Enjoy!
1. Bugs Bunny first appeared on April 30, 1938, in a cartoon named Porky's Hare Hunt.
2. With the hippo ballerina from Fantasia, Gloria from Madagascar may not be the first cartoon hippo to hit movie theatres, but she IS the first one with a speaking part.
3. Peter Potamus had a special attack called the Hurricane Hippo Hollar that often propelled their hot air balloon when there was no wind.
4. With over a hundred and eighty episodes total, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had the longest-running cartoon show from the 1980's.
5. Popeye had a magical dog pet named The Jeep, who could fly, turn, invisible, and pass through walls. The Jeep showed a great big appetite, and his favorite food was a type of flower.
6. Oswald Rabbit was Walt Disney's second animated cartoon series, just after Alice's Wonderland, and before Mickey Mouse.
7. There was a sub-sequel made to Who Framed Roger Rabbit called "Who PPP-Plugged Roger Rabbit", in which Baby Herman turned up dead.
8. Mr. Crabs from Spongebob has a daughter who is a whale. It was never addressed how she got adopted or even if she WAS adopted. It's just wierd.
9. Dingbat from Dingbat and the Creeps, was a vampire dog with a horrible slavic accent who would rather have chocolate than blood any day.
10. In the initial movie "The Land Before Time", a tyrannosaurus (Known as a Sharptooth) was considered a terrible, destructive, killer force that ends up drowning. However, in the sequel, there is a cute little tyrannosaurus chick who is lovable in spite of his carnivorous nature. I don't know what they were trying to say here exactly.
11. Freddy the Frog defied tradition by having a secret agent who had magical powers. And if that weren't wierd enough, he was a giant talking frog with a french accent. Was the creator smoking pot or just scraping the bottom of the idea barrel? Nobody really knows.
12. In Pepe Le Pew first appeared, he turned out to be a philanderer with an American accent and a wife and kids.
13. Little Hopper the Kangaroo only ever appeared in cartoons with Sylvester the Cat, kind of a take-off on the "giant mouse" concept. The kangaroo notably was able to pin Butch's ears back, which made him and a cat taking ballet.
14. Buster and Babs from Tiny Toon Adventures were incredibly zany. It's hard to tell which of them is more screwy, but Babs Bunny is probably the one, since it was indicated she has visible self-control issues.
15. RJ first appeared in Over the Hedge in the 1990's comic strip. Really, from a comic strip to an animated movie in only 16 years is pretty good for a comic that isn't known worldwide. Then again, the cartoon studios are probably running low on ideas.
16. Rocko from Rocko's Modern Life has a turtle friend named Philbert and a cow friend named Heifer. In episodes, it was revealed that Rocko met the turtle in grade school, and the cow in high school.
17. Freddy the Frog premiered well before Mickey Mouse, and a mouse from one of his cartoons inspired the creation of Mickey Mouse.
18. The Aardvark from the Ant actually swallowed the ant a few times, but had to spit him out when the Ant smoked a cigarette inside him.
19. Walt Disney studios has created Crocodile main characters in three of its animated movies. As far as I know, no other animation company has made so many main characters. Among these main characters, only the Crocodile in The Princess and The Frog had a speaking part.
20. Morocco Mole seemed like a persian or arabian agent due to the way he talks and his fez, but the voice was actually a guy impersonating Peter Lorre.
Well, that's all for this chapter. I hope you've enjoyed section one. If you did, I hope you enjoy section 2 just as much. Thank's for reading!
