Who is the strongest?
79The strongest character in cartoon history?
There are a number of powerful heroes and villains with biceps bigger than their heads. These tough guys are naturally meant to draw their power from simple brute force, but much of the time, they are capable of using magic as well. The question is, which one of these muscular guys is the strongest? You decide, and feel free to comment to me which you think is the strongest and why. The choices are as follows:
He-Man: The self-proclaimed most powerful man in the universe, he is armed with a magic sword and has been shown to break through the strongest substance in the galaxy.
She-Ra, Princess of Power: He-Man's twin sister, She-Ra is armed with a variety of powers that He-Man doesn't have, and in one episode, picked up an enemy ship and threw it into the rest of the fleet.
Popeye the Sailor Man: Popeye is strong to the finich because he eats his spinach. He routinely beats up entire armies of villains or huge enemies, and can even regenerate after being disintigrated all after eating spinach. In one cartoon, he told his nephews a story about how their great, great, great, great uncle was Hercules.
Conan the Adventurer: He probably doesn't have the magical superhuman strength of He-Man, but he is both very brave and very fierce in addition to being the size of a truck. In his opening theme, he states that "He's more powerful than any man, his legend spreads across the land and sea." But what do YOU think?
Superman: Superman is considered the first superhero to actually have real superpowers. Superman's eleged powers include great superhuman strength and indestructibility, which is the only way he can solve his problems since he's not really that smart.
The Incredible Hulk: Marvel Comics considers the Hulk to be the most powerful creature that has ever existed, with basic strength to rival Thor, and his strength increases with rage, which makes his physical power virtually immeasurable!
Hercules: Shown in The Mighty Hercules, the Space Sentinels, the Justice Squad, and Disney's Hercules, Hercules is a demigod son of Zeus, and the limits of his strength seem to depend on who is animating him. In Disney's Hercules the animated series, a teenage version of Hercules could move an entire mountain a short distance!
Thor: Marvel comics' Thor should not be underestimated, able to conjure thunder and lightning as well as other storm attributes. Plus, by wearing a special belt, he can become stronger than The Incredible Hulk, unless someone royally ticks The Hulk off.
Wonder Woman: If Superman is in the running for strongest cartoon character, Wonder Woman sure should be also. I don't know for certain or anything, but I think if she had to, Wonder Woman could kick Superman's butt!
Mon-Star: From Silverhawks, Mon-Star may go down after just a few laser shots, but what he transforms into is BUFFED! He says: "Moon Star of Limbo, give me the might, the muscle, the menace of MON-STAR!!", and he becomes a muscular creature more than twice his initial size, and covered in red armor. That's GOT to be worth something.
Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living: My personal favorite saturday-morning-cartoon-villain. The fact that he fits into so many classes, the way that he talks, his sense of integrity, and his ability to shift between an elderly weakling and a muscle-bound monstrous warrior are all qualities I can admire in an arch-villain. When he says: "Ancient Spirits of Evil, transform this decayed form to Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living, he becomes a creature with both super-strength, and a mastery of spells. In The Last Day, he also absorbed enough evil energy to become as large as a volcano, and threatened to single-handedly destroy Third Earth!
Goku from the Dragon Ball series: Another Anime character, Japanese animation, in my experience, can easily show an abundance of power and fighting, even with a minmum of plausible explanations (Although, D.C. comics has done some pretty freaky things too). Goku is meant to be the strongest flying, laser-blasting creature in the universe, capable of beating the snot out of creatures who can destroy entire worlds!
Galactus: Galactus is a giant with cosmic strength who devours the life energies of entire worlds. What else do you need?
Well, that's all I can think of for now. If you have any other ideas on who is the strongest cartoon character of all time, or if you want to cast your vote on which of these is the strongest, you can write me in the comments portion of this page. Personally, given the surrealism that allows Popeye to become effectively invincible, I'd put him in at least the top five. Maybe the Hulk CAN become the strongest, but since he tends to go berserk, it's better to have someone more in control when it comes to heroes.
The god of thunder may be a good choice for a while, but with the powers of the storm, he'd be less likely to rely on his own fighting skills. Galactus is really buffed, but unless he eats an entire planet, he'll run out of energy pretty quickly. Goku seems like a good choice, possessing both fighting skills AND unrealistic alien superpower, but keep in mind that he HAS been killed before. Superman is a good enough hero, but only as long as he's under a yellow sun. And even then, if there's Kryptonite around, a kindergartener could kick his butt. Wonder Woman is powerful, and has no limitations about where she is or any chemical element nearby, but in her comics, she has also been killed before.
Mon-Star and Mumm-Ra are both obviously powerful beings, though Mumm-Ra has shown considerably more versitility and defense than Mon-Star, and even then, Mumm-Ra can lose his powers pretty quickly if separated from his crypt for too long. Hercules is pretty tough, but since he's only part god and part mortal, he can still be killed, and his only real power is superhuman strength. Even with that strength, I'd say The Hulk could bash his head in. Then we get to Conan. Conan the Adventurer may be one of the strongest, bravest and toughest HUMANS that ever lived, but in terms of physical strength, he couldn't match the SUPERHUMAN strength of Superman or Wonder Woman. Still, a magic sword might even the odds.
Lastly, He-Man and She-Ra both have magic swords and superhuman strength after saying a phrase like "By the Power of Greyskull", or "For the Honor of Greyskull". He-Man is the more well known, but She-Ra can do things like transform her sword into various items and fly on a winged horse. This may indicate at first that She-Ra is stronger, but with his close connections to The Sorceress and the scientific warrior Man-at-arms, he might have more power over all. As for Popeye, he's surrealistically powerful, but he wouldn't be as strong as, say, The Hulk unless he ate his spinach. Fortunately, he has some peculiar-yet-reliable ways of getting spinach in an emergency.
That's just what I think. What do YOU think? Who is the strongest cartoon character in animated history, and why?
